Multi-Family Housing
Lürrip,
Germany
2022
Competition
The project redevelops an existing parking lot in the suburb of Lürrip, addressing urban sprawl while exploring how the qualities of a single-family house can be integrated into a multi-family residential building. Three steel frameworks of varying heights contain inserted cross-laminated timber modules, creating a flexible and adaptable housing structure. Located between an allotment garden association and an industrial area, the design uses timber and recycled steel to emphasise the contrast between these contexts. The south-facing modules each feature private outdoor spaces equal in size to the living area and are connected through a central circulation core. Shared spaces encourage social interaction, while green façades and terraces enhance residents’ well-being. The development offers 50 m² apartments for singles, cluster apartments with communal living areas, and family units of up to 100 m², each paired with equally large outdoor spaces. Two retail units are also located on the ground floor.
